Well, this morning we got the news that Dad had passed his swallowing test which means that he can try eating solid food! To our surprise, his lunch (Beef Stew, Biscuits, and Jello), included a personal-sized Birthday Cake. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to eat more than a few bites, but it's a start.
Dad gave his permission for us to post his photo to share with all of his "fans". We will continue to update you on his recovery as things change.

Hurray - although the picture Andy dropped off of Dave holding the wine bottle in Italy looks better:) What happy memories we have of that trip:) I am looking at Cancun for January 1 -6th - tell Dave to work hard, step by step, hour by hour - it sure would be great for us to go together and relax in the sun in January! That's 105 days from now - so tell him to slow down, take his time, and climb this mountain of recovery s l o w l y, so that we don't fall backwards!!!
Seriously, think about Cancun after Christmas; pure sand, walks on the beach, Dave Matthews tunes playing in the background and great conversation. Hopefully a place a little off the beaten path. Once Dave's up and his hands are steady, he can look for the best deals on the internet:)
