Watching Poker with Dad....

So, after returning to work in Minneapolis for about a week, I returned home to Michigan for the weekend to check on the house in Northville (which I had to break into!), and driving over to Muskegon to check in on my dad. I caught him just as the Michigan game had ended, and we chatted about the Cubs chances of making the playoffs. Even though he was desperately trying to get some sleep, he asked that I turn the TV on to check some football scores. Wisconsin was playing Iowa which was rather boring for both of us, so we opted for watching his favorite, Poker! He got a few laughs from his favorite announcers before finally getting some shut eye. Since then, I've been catching up on all of the comments being left on the blog from friends and family alike. Knowing all of the love and support that is out there has made this about as easy as any of us could expect.

Sarah and I are giving our mom a much needed rest for the night, before we both head back to Chicago and Minneapolis respectively tomorrow. About time for us to get some shut eye as well.....

Hello, Arndts! It is good to see that Dave continues to make progress, although I know it is going more slowly than you all would like. It sounds like you are in wonderfully capable hands. We drive by your Northville home any time we are in town--please let us know if there is anything you would like us to check up on, or if there is anything else back here that you need. Dave, your picture shows that, in spite of your many stuggles, you haven't lost your good looks. What a relief, huh? Melody, you be sure to take care of yourself. How wonderful that you have the beauty of Lake Michigan to ease your concerns and help you relax. Have you considered a "white noise" machine to assist Dave in his sleeping endeavors? You can get one that has wind, waves, rain, a train--I even have one that has frogs and crickets! I find it very helpful.

Dave, Brother Stan sends his love as well as the Secret Handshake and all of the other Secret things to which we wives are not privy. Know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Blessings and Love,
Stan and Doris

PS Happy Birthday!

Dave, I just spoke with Melody and learned of this wonderful web site. It is a great way to communicate, unobtrusively and with convenience. Melody assures us that you are receiving excellent care. Debi and I have you in our thoughts and prayers. We look forward to your continued recovery and the opportunity to hear all about this journey, over a glass of Brunello. Now that we know of this site, we will check on you daily. Be strong. Be patient.

Hi Melody and Dave!
Andy leaves for Pittsburgh and Atlanta on Tuesday, so is Melody up for dinner and talk Tuesday or Wednesday? Call my cell as I will stay at school and work with the 9th graders on their freshman float unless something (hint hint) better is offered:)
So glad that Brian and Sarah were here, love to you all,
Always with prayers,
Joyce (and Andy)

Hi Dave, Melody and the Arndts,
Just found your blog site and read several of the posts and saw Dave's picture. He was looking great as usual!
I work with him at ACH and also am connected to him through the SPE organization. The SPE board members were concerned and interested in how he was doing and in his progress. Dave has contributed much in that area and above all, Dave has made some excellent friends there.. They also wanted to send a fruit basket, Melody. I am not sure if Dave is ready for it or not. But I gave Pat Levine (from the SPE) the blogspot address.
We wish Dave and all of you well and our prayers will be with you.

Rahul

What a beautiful testament this blog is to show Dave how much he is loved. I can't believe how far he has come since those first few days. Please tell him that Melanie, Brandon and Brittany are praying for him constantly.
Sarah - please get some rest whenever you have the opportunity; your rest is as important as Dave's at this point in order for you to sustain your strength.
We all love you so much.
Mel
